Ride With Us!

As Pappy used to say, a bike ain’t really a bike that don’t get ridden. Whether you’re fast & fit or slow and steady, there’s a ride waiting for you. We don’t have any organized shop rides at the moment, but check out some of these independently-organized recurring rides:

Regular Rides

RAM Ride A family-friendly ride that meets every Saturday morning under the Fuller Warren Bridge in Riverside (the same spot the Riverside Arts Market is hosted). We roll out at 9 am. Helmets required for kiddos up to age 13. The pace is easy and we usually stop somewhere for breakfast or other refreshments. Training wheels, tagalongs, and kid trailers are all welcome.

TuNiBiRi! If you’re up for crossing the ditch, the Tuesday Night Bike Ride (TuNiBiRi!) is one of the more regularly-running social rides around. Routes vary, but mostly north and south along the beach roads for a little more than two hours. It’s a peppy but social pace, with stops and some bike games thrown in for extra fun. Meet up is at Florida Velvet Tattoo and Piercing every Tuesday between 9:00 and 9:30 and leaves promptly at 10:00PM.

Tillie Tuesdays After-Dark Trail Ride Tillie Tuesdays is a weekly after-sunset social/athletic ride at Tillie K. Fowler Regional Park (Westside Regional) for folks looking to hit the trails. Join us at Tillie Fowler any Tuesday evening of the year! This ride starts at or after sundown, so adequate lights are a must, and helmets are emphatically recommended. A few folks meet up at 7pm at ZenCog. Otherwise, feel free to meet the group around 8pm, via two wheels or four, near the Yukon entrance to Tillie Fowler Park. Look for the MTBs and bike rack-bedecked vehicles parked outside of Murray’s Tavern (4527 120th St, Jacksonville, FL 32244).

Black Creek Creep Meet up every Wednesday at Grassroots Fleming Island at 9pm. The ride leaves at  10:10. For more info, contact Ri at 904-674-1398. BYOB “Bring your own bike”. We ride at a slower pace so the ride is okay for all levels of cycling!!

Midnight Mass A late ride that meets in Riverside on Thursday nights. Sometimes we’re in the mood for miles, sometimes for beer. If you’re interested, ask around. Routes are dark and lights are recommended. Be kind to our friendly neighbors, please.

Full Moon Ride takes place about once a month on — you guessed it — full moon nights. Meet at the helipad. Contact your local Skid for the deets.

Annual Rides

Bike MS/MS 150/Cycle to the Shore A 150-kilometer (with distance options ranging from 36 to 166 miles for all ability levels) supported bike ride from Ponte Vedra Beach to Daytona Beach and back. Every fall, this event raises money for Multiple Sclerosis research and awareness. A great, easy way to dip a toe into distance riding, you can stop at break areas every few miles along the route.

Luminaria Ride Always a fun event, Luminaria is a holiday celebration hosted by the Riverside and Avondale neighborhoods and Riverside/Avondale Preservation in late December. Residents all over the area light luminary lanterns at twilight, while carolers visit door to door, antique vehicles and horse-drawn hay wagons tour the streets, and cyclists and pedestrians roam the neighborhood peeking at Christmas lights and drinking cider. There are multiple semi-organized group rides departing from locations around the neighborhood, but the largest one meets in the parking lot of FSCJ Kent Campus in Avondale just before dusk.
